Laura has over 25 years experience in the health care field as a nurse, researcher, and acupuncturist. She received a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Northeastern University, a Master's degree in Public Health from John Hopkins University, and a Master's degree in Acupuncture from The Traditional Acupuncture Institute. She is National Board Certified in Acupuncture and is also a Certified Animal Acupuncturist. Laura has been practicing acupuncture for more than 10 years and has worked overseas as a nurse in Africa and Asia as well as on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. She has a loving husband, a teenage son, and two young twin daughters that keep her quite busy.
Allyson holds a Master of Acupuncture from the TAI Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts where she continues to serve on the faculty in both the Applied Healing Arts and Acupuncture degree programs. She also teaches TAI Sophia's "Redefining Health" workshops to business and community groups, both nationally and internationally. She is a Diplomate of Acupuncture with the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Allyson's prior work experience includes clinical social work, child advocacy and corporate public affairs consulting. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland and a BA in Russian Studies from the University of Virginia.
Allyson and Laura contine to work and study with prominent figures in Chinese medicine. They are members of the Doctors' Speakers Bureau, a not-for profit organization providing free seminars to the public on complementary medicine.
