"Winter is an etching, Spring a watercolor, Summer an oil painting
and Autumn a mosaic of them all."
~ Stanley Horowitz
The leaves have turned and are falling. The air is turning cool and brisk and there is an undeniable crisp quality to the blue of the sky. Autumn has arrived, introduced by its coat of many colors. It is a time of inspiration and awe at the beauty and changes occuring in nature around us. And as the trees let go of their leaves and the birds let go of their summer homes, it is also the time for us to begin letting go as well.
The organs associated with the fall season are the lungs and the large intestine. The lungs allow for the breath of life - the rhythm and patterns without which we'd be living in uncomfortable chaos. And the large intestine allows for our letting go of all that no longer serves on a physical as well as mental and spiritual levels as well.
As we head into this season, it is a good time to begin thinking about getting extra support for your immune system. If you have asthma, chronic colds, bronchitis or are prone to becoming ill in the winter, this is the time to begin acupuncture treatment to reinforce your body's inherent healing wisdom.
Autumn is a time to free up the clutter in your life; this could be through cleaning out a closet, doing a simple dietary cleanse or finally let go of old hurts, anger, jealousy or pain that may be keeping you stuck in unhealthy emotional patterns. If you find that some of those patterns also manifest in a lowered sense of self-worth or perfectionism, this is the season to release the hold negative emotions may be having on you.
Make this the season you finally address that IBS, depression or pre-menstrual syndrome. Acupuncture is highly effective in helping with menopausal symptoms such as headaches and hot flashes as well as addressing fertility issues you, as a couple, may be having. Make today the day you call for a free acupuncture consultation to discuss your physical, mental or emotional health concerns. See the beauty that is you as it is reflected in this colorful season.
